Sixes
Three matches in one round — you partner everyone, and play against everyone.
Also called Hollywood or Round Robin. The foursome splits into partners for six holes at a time, rotating so that by the 18th, everyone has partnered everyone — and played against everyone.
The rules
Holes 1–6: one and two against three and four. Holes 7–12 and 13–18: the pairings rotate. Each six is its own better-ball match at the stake a man. Three separate matches, three separate results, one round.
It's the game that most needs an app, because scoring three overlapping matches on a paper card is how friendships end. Sweep all three of your matches and everybody at the table paid you once.
How it settles
$5 a six. You and Dave take the first six, you and Chris halve the middle, you and Mike drop the last. Up one six, down one, square one: $5 in, $5 out, and three different partners to blame.
Rivalry scores Sixes live — the rules stated on the first tee, the money running along the bottom of the card, and the settle done to the dollar when the last putt drops. The round goes into your group's permanent record, because a game this good deserves to be remembered past the car park.
Some scores take years to settle.
Rivalry is in closed beta with a handful of groups. Leave an email and we’ll tell you when there’s room.
